Dr Huy Hoang
Senior Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr Hoang is an experienced researcher in medicinal & biological chemistry (44 papers, GS h-index 25, 5 papers >100 cites, 2410 total GS cites). His work has included the development of novel chemical entities, structures, mechanisms and chemical reactivities that have significantly impacted drug design & discovery, biochemistry and pharmacology. His important & unique contributions to peptide/protein chemistry have been:

•Solving a 3D solution structure of a stable single turn alpha helix, followed by the discovery of a new non- covalent interaction (long range n to pi-star interaction)
•Discovery of connecting hydrophobic patches to enhance peptide cell permeation.
•Discovery and characterisation of new protein-ligand interactions, e.g. n to pi-star, n to sigma-star, pi hole and sigma hole interactions.

Dr Hoang has contributed to the development of the next generation of research scientists, supervising the successful completion of nine students (3 PhDs, 3 Master, 2 honours, 1 4th year Biotech). He also manages UQ IMB's NMR spectroscopy facility, having trained and mentored hundreds of chemists in using this facility.
